Domestic flight takes 45 minutes from Male International Airport to Hanimadhoo and 15 minutes by minivan from Hanimadhoo airport to the property.

Il contesto naturalistico lo abbiamo molto apprezzato. La vista oceano ci è piaciuta tantissimo e per quanto abbiamo pagato ne vale abbondantemente. I servizi e lo staff ci sono piaciuti e sono stati tutti molto disponibili per tutte le necessità che abbiamo avuto. Le escursioni che offre la struttura sono tutte valide e organizzate da persone molto competenti. Il buffet della pensione completa è giusta per il contesto.
La Wi-Fi non prendeva molto bene nelle zone comuni (nella stanza era ottima) e l’acqua calda finiva molto velocemente. Un consiglio sulle escursioni: potrebbe capitare di uscire in barca e non trovare l’animale; in questo caso dovrebbero far pagare un prezzo ridotto forfettario

Good detox, but experiences and logistics quite poor
We liked the Barefoot Eco Concept. The venue was private, secluded and easygoing as well as the guests flows, therefore everywhere was very quiet and perfect to completely disconnect and recharge. The plastic-free approach was great for the environment and you could see the effort from everyone to respect the ecosystem and prevent it from over tourism. The beach was lovely, wide and had plenty of space for all the hotel’s guests. The sea was turquoise and you could easily snorkel and enjoy the beautiful ecosystem around. The rooms were spacious and bright, design matched the concept and cleaning service was okay and quick. A special thank to the Restaurant Staff (Sozib, Deepak, Rana, Asaad, Parvat) who was always caring and willing to help throughout the services. The local team who brought you to the boat bar was also super friendly. Variety of food was satisfying and also hours of the services covered the right amount of time. Yoga classes in the morning by Jestine were the perfect way to kick off the day and the gym was pretty good equipped for general trainings. The pool was nice. The WiFi connection was good and allowed us to work remotely and the IT Team was always on top in case of problems. Virginia and Nico from diving and snorkeling were very prepared. One guy at the reception who welcomed us (don’t remember the name, but we arrived the 31.12 at 5pm so you can trace this back to the shift) was nice.
I personally think the experiences were overpriced and not well organized. Bear in mind that being in a local island you are not allowed to be served alcool, it was a nice detox for us, but is good to know in advance (however, they also have a boat bar where you can purchase drinks). Every night, they organized something for the guests (movie night, quiz night, biology class); this was a nice way to entertain guests, but seemed poor and random; with a little more effort from the team could have been done much better. Sometimes, the plastic-free approach seemed an excuse to led you purchasing basic stuff you usually find in the room at the hotel’s shop (ex: cotton buds, matches, etc). Reception service was not up to the standard: the personnel was not always there and usually not able to follow up on your request. Domestic flights are discretionally handled and booked from the hotel without consulting the guests first and imposing very early departure from Hanimadhoo on the day of check-out. You get this information in the afternoon before the day you leave and then you have to hurry in order respect their crazy timeline and end up spending many hours in Male Airpot making the way home lot longer. Didn’t like the approach on WhatsApp before arrival, asking many info about payment and sensitive data.

La struttura è moderna, pulita e accogliente. Le stanze sono organizzate in piccole villette a due piani, ognuna delle quali ha 4 stanze, e si trovano a pochi passi dalla spiaggia, immerse in un giardino tropicale molto curato. La nostra stanza era al piano terra con un piccolo patio rivolto verso la spiaggia. Era provvista di aria condizionata e un letto molto grande. È presente un’ampia area comune aperta su tutti i lati con ristorante, bar, libreria e zona relax. Abbiamo trovato davvero ottimo il cibo. Noi abbiamo fatto la mezza pensione con colazione e cena a buffet incluse. A colazione si può scegliere tra un’ampia selezione di cibo dolce e salato, con marmellate e dolci fatti in casa, frutta fresca; a richiesta il cuoco prepara al momento le uova come si desidera. A cena, ricca scelta tra cui in particolare abbiamo apprezzato il pesce locale e verdura fresca coltivata anche nell’orto della struttura. Per pranzo si possono gustare ottimi snack maldiviani in uno dei due bar. Lo staff è sempre stato gentile e disponibile. Abbiamo fatto alcune belle gite di snorkelling nei dintorni, dove abbiamo visto tartarughe, mante, squali e tantissimi pesci tropicali. Anche la spiaggia dell’hotel era bellissima con reef raggiungibile a nuoto in circa 15-20 minuti. In generale abbiamo apprezzato la strategia di gestione volta a limitare l’impatto ambientale e a sensibilizzare sulla conservazione del patrimonio naturalistico dell’isola, con il supporto della biologa residente (peraltro italiana). Wi-Fi ok. In generale è una struttura votata al relax, il che era proprio ciò che stavamo cercando, con un mare bellissimo, forse anche meno contaminato dal turismo rispetto ad altre zone dellle Maldive. Non è adatta a chi cerca animazione serale o notturna, anche se qualche evento viene organizzato (per esempio balli con musica maldiviana dal vivo, brevi presentazioni su biologia marina, proiezione di documentari a tema marino).
Nella nostra stanza c’era poco spazio per stendere i costumi e gli asciugamani bagnati. La posizione a circa 300 km a nord di Male costringe a prendere un volo interno, del costo di 380 dollari a persona.
